House District 64 | Southwestern Jackson County, including the city of Jackson

Martin Griffin for State Representative

I’ve always been known as a fiscal conservative – and that’s a label I wear proudly, because no taxpayer dollar should ever be wasted. That’s true now more than ever, as our middle-class families are getting squeezed in every direction. Nobody knows better than us here in Jackson that things are tough right now, and that we need someone in Lansing who will stand up for our community.

I have always been an independent voice for our residents, fighting to create jobs and protect the ones we already have. Instead of raising taxes, I fought to support our small businesses, which are the true engine of growth for our economy. We need to do more to attract emerging industries like alternative energy to Michigan, and I am committed to bringing these good-paying jobs right here to mid-Michigan.

I also stood up to my party and opposed the Governor’s plans to close the MSU Extension, which would have hurt farmers throughout Jackson County. Agriculture is one of our state’s largest industries, and we must support our farmers and producers.

Neither party has a monopoly on good ideas, and what Michigan desperately needs now are solutions, not more partisan bickering. I hope you’ll join me in this fight to turn our state and economy around.

P.S. Here’s a little bit more about me:

  • I have lived in Jackson my entire life.
  • I am a proud graduate of Lumen Christi and the University of Michigan.
  • In 1995, I was elected mayor of Jackson and I served for 11 years.
  • As mayor, I worked to bring new businesses to downtown Jackson, cut
wasteful spending and balance the budget.
